How do I scan a receipt?

Tap the + button on the Home screen, then select "Scan Receipt". Point your camera at the receipt and take a photo. The app will automatically extract the vendor name, amount, date, and currency. Review and correct the extracted information before saving.

How does trip tracking work?

First, set your home location in Settings > Trip Tracking. Enable "Trip Tracking" and grant location permission. When you travel more than the set distance threshold from your home, the app automatically starts logging a trip. When you return home, the trip is completed and saved.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings > Data Management. You can export your data in JSON format (for backup) or generate expense reports as PDF or Excel files from individual reports. To export a report, open it and tap the share/export button.

How do I change the display currency?

Go to Settings > Currency. Select your preferred display currency from the dropdown. All expenses will be shown converted to this currency using current exchange rates. Note: expenses are stored in their original currency.

Does ExpenseFlow work offline?

Yes! All core features work without an internet connection. Receipt scanning, expense entry, trip tracking, and report generation all work offline. Exchange rates are cached and updated when you're connected to the internet.

How do I create a new expense report?

On the Home screen, tap "New Report". Give your report a title and optionally assign it to a client. You can then add expenses to the report by scanning receipts or entering them manually.

How do I add a client?

Go to the Clients page and tap the + button. Enter the client's name and any other relevant details. You can then assign expense reports to specific clients for easy organization.

Is my data backed up?

Your data is stored locally on your device. We recommend regularly exporting your data from Settings > Export Data as a backup. You can restore from a JSON export at any time.

How do I delete an expense or report?

Swipe left on any expense or report to reveal the delete option. For reports, you can also open the report and use the options menu. Note: deleted data cannot be recovered.

Why isn't location tracking working?

Make sure you've granted location permission to ExpenseFlow. Go to iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > ExpenseFlow and select "Always" for background trip detection to work correctly.
